Summer Solstice

By Tylluan Penry

Hide in my arms in the unforgiving night
Where love lies like an angel
Crushed with tattered wings of light
And no-one knows that answers
And no-one dares to question
For night is dark and hides its reasons well, as well it might.

Hide in my heart in the glaring light of day
Where love lies blind, defenceless
Scarred with visions painted grey
And all will kow the answers
And all will duck the question
For day is bright and sears us with its sun, as well it may.

And earth hangs in the balance of a dazzling summer sky,
"You will remember me," it calls
"When I have passed you by."
And still you fear to answer,
The sacred question, "Why?"

But here you will be safe, in the misty sight of evening
Light is dying now, the night is on its way,
And the cycle of the rhythm drives it onwards,
And the rhythm of the cycle drives decay.
But we'll never know the answers, Until we ask the questions
And when shall that time be?  Another day.
