“I Caress the Siren, I Caress the Whale” - A Tarot Spread for La Sirene

By Kim Huggens

This spread’s shape is a simple one: the form of a wave. The wave can be seen as a symbol of the ebb and flow of the ocean, its’ constantly fluctuating nature. This spread was designed for La Sirene and inspired by her, and therefore it focuses on the themes and areas of life she represents: creativity, inner power, sensuality, and resources. Because of the ebb-flow nature of the spread, it is useful for identifying the way your own creativity, inner power, etc., fluctuates over time and why.

Cards 1 and 2: The ebb and flow of your creativity and imagination. How it comes and goes, how it is strongest and how it is weakest. How it is inspired and how it is blocked. La Sirene the Muse.

Cards 3 and 4: The ebb and flow of your inner power. How it is called up and how it is put down. What bolsters it and what weakens it. How it responds and how it does not. La Sirene the Mambo.

Cards 5 and 6: The ebb and flow of your sensuality. How it is nurtured and how it is conserved. How it is exhibited and how it is hidden. How it flows and how it is blocked. La Sirene the Temptress.

Cards 7 and 8: The ebb and flow of your resources. How they are harnessed and how they are wasted. How they flow into your life and how they are taken from your life. How you can maximize them and how you can conserve them. La Sirene the Treasure Holder.

If you wish for further information and a deeper understanding of La Sirene, you can also pull two extra cards:
