Online Pagan Shopping

By Kim Huggens

Anybody who knows me also knows how much I love to shop. Don't get me wrong: I don't shop for 'normal' things like clothes and make-up. Me, I shop for all manner of occult and Pagan items, mostly books and Tarot decks. As I write this, my bookshelf is heaving under the weight of all the Pagan/Occult books I have purchased since the Summer...

The problem I have however is that there are very few good Pagan/Occult shops around, especially in Cardiff. It seems our wonderful town has not yet been the capital city of Wales long enough for the big-name Pagan shops to move in.

So what's an avid Pagan shopper like myself to do? The internet of course! The world-wide-web is a veritable paradise, providing you have a credit card or Paypal. (Paypal is an online method of payment with your credit card that means you don't have to give out your credit card details to anybody.) The advantage of shopping on the net is that most of the time items are cheaper: internet businesses don't have a shop to heat and light or the middle man to pay. So, because 'tis the season of goodwill, peace on earth, and brash commercialism, I thought I'd give you a few pointers towards some of the better Pagan/Occult shops on the web.

www.newmoonoccultshop.co.uk
This is a huge website full of all manner of objects: ritual tools, altar equipment, Tarot decks, books, crystal balls, pendulums, candles, incense, jewellery, herbs, items for the Goth in you... Based in the UK, the p&p (postage and packaging) is fairly cheap aswell.

www.wyrdshop.com
This shop is also a real-life shop based in Edinburgh, and is hailed as one of the best real-life shops of its kind in the UK. The online shop stocks plenty of books, Tarot decks, and altar equipment, aswell as ritual tools and spell ingredients such as candles and incenses. Highly recommended.

www.tarotgarden.com
This website, run by two very ethical and friendly Tarotholics, stocks hundreds upon hundreds of Tarot decks, some very rare and hard to find, others very common. The prices are cheaper than you'll find in real-life shops, and you can find any Tarot deck you are looking for: if you can't find it, Tarot Garden even have a search service - give as much information as possible about the deck you are looking for, and the Tarot Garden people will do their best to track it down for you.

www.tribalmoon.co.uk
This shop mostly sells Pagan jewellery, but also has some very nice ritual tools and robes.

www.mandrake-press.com
For the book-lover in you, this shop stocks... a helluva lot of books!

www.karmick.co.uk
Karmick is a website that specialises in crystals, gemstone jewellery, and Eastern philosophy.

www.themagikthread.co.uk
Mostly sells books, and a wide variety of them at that!

www.llewellyn.com
Okay so they haven't published the best Pagan books in the world, but their stock isn't too bad. At this website you can buy any book from them that they have in print.

www.capallbann.co.uk
Currently becoming very popular in the British Isles, Capall Bann publish books on many subjects of interest to Pagans.

www.witchypoocorner.com
A wide variety of items a Witch/Wiccan may want, at very reasonable prices.

www.paganjewellery.com
Home to Caduceus Jewellery, this website sells hundreds of stunning pieces of jewellery ranging from Celtic-inspired to Egyptian and Animal-inspired.

www.greenmanbooks.co.uk
Books!!! :D

www.speakingtree.co.uk
More books, but this time half-price or less. (They're brand-new too.)

This is by no means an exhaustive list, and there are plenty more online Pagan/Occult shops out there. But for now, I'll leave you with these beauties. (But don't sue me when your credit card is maxed out!)
